The long awaited 4th album (4 years in the making) - ‘The Other Side’ takes on a new direction for the band with a combination of lifestyle and surfing material. As you would expect from Mal and the Longboarders, there is still a good amount of songs that are surfing related but for the first time there is an inclusion of material that is influenced by blues, rock & jazz.
The band has recruited some great Byron Bay talent to feature on the album. Don Raphael gets his soulful sax happening on several tracks. Tony Narvo has come aboard again with some great piano and Hammond organ. Al Hughes helps out with keyboards ('Cover of Darkness) and mandolin ('Down by the Sea') whilst the brilliant Celeste Chappel lends her soulful and haunting voice on ‘Oceans Kiss’.
